This Champagne is made from 1/3 each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier fermented in large 600 liter barrels. Without the influence of malolactic fermentation, the wine is without that rich creamy character of many Champagnes. Rather, it's focused purely on the fruit and above all on the minerality. The Chardonnay grapes for this wine come from a section of Mesnil known as "Le Champ de la Truie," and are very influenced by the chalk soils here. The Pinot Noir in contrast comes from the Aube department in southern Champagne, from a little vineyard in Montgueux called "Le Tertre." The Pinot Meunier is grown in a small village called Monthodon, on the south bank of the Marne river. The Pinot Noir and the Pinot Meunier add fruit and body to the wine, and the Chardonnay contributes a stark, chalky minerality, lending to a seamlessly elegant whole.91 points Decanter
Ter Noir is a blend of one-third Chardonnay, one-third Pinot Noir and one-third Pinot Meunier, with a dosage of 3g/l and no malolactic fermentation. Its limestone character stands out from the start with its apple, quince and spice bouquet. The palate is fresh and well-delineated, with the limestone-based acidity giving length. (YC) mark (11/2019)
